Removal and installation method of timing chain kit
Disassembly method
(1) Turn the engine crankshaft to TDC of cylinder 1.(2) The mark of camshaft timing gear must be aligned with the arrow of toothed drive belt shield, as shown in Fig. 1-4-1.
(3) Mark the drive direction of the toothed drive belt.
(4) Loosen the timing belt tensioner and remove the toothed drive belt.
(5) Then rotate the crankshaft slightly in the opposite direction.
Installation method
(1) Install the toothed drive belt onto the crankshaft timing gear and coolant pump (pay attention to the direction of rotation).(2) Adjust the mark on the camshaft timing gear and the mark on the toothed drive belt shield to align with each other, as shown in Fig. 1-4-1.
(3) Install middle and lower part of toothed drive belt.
(4) Install the crankshaft pulley with new bolts.
(5) Place the crankshaft at TDC of cylinder 1, and align it with the mark shown by the arrow in Fig. 1-4-2.
(6) Install the timing toothed drive belt onto the tensioner and camshaft timing gear. The correct installation position of the tensioner is shown in Fig. 1-4-3.
(7) Tension the toothed drive belt. As shown in Fig. 1-4-4, use a double hole nut wrench to turn the tensioner cam to the left until the pointer 2 is on the notch 1 (the toothed drive belt is tensioned). Repeat this step (tensioning the toothed drive belt) 5 times until the toothed drive belt is in place.
(8) Loosen the toothed drive belt until notch 1 and pointer 2 are aligned.
(9) Tighten the tensioner fixing nut with a torque of 20N. m.
(10) Turn the crankshaft clockwise for two turns until the engine stops at TDC of cylinder 1 again. Note that the last 45 ° (1/8 turn) of rotation cannot be interrupted.
(11) Check the toothed drive belt for tension again.
(12) Check the engine timing again.
